People living in Birmingham had the opportunity to find out more about dementia, thanks to a free awareness workshop arranged by Bluebird Care Birmingham East. The team hoisted the event as part of national Dementia Awareness Week in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Society at four different locations around Birmingham East. The awareness event were conducted at Yardley Wood Library and Welcome Change Community Centre on 16th May, Kings Norton Library on 18th and Weoley Castle Library on 19th

Bluebird Care Birmingham East attended the event for elderly at Shard End Community Centre conducted by Shard End Day centre club. As part of the Dementia awareness event information on Dementia was shared and also spread the news on Bluebird care and the work we do. We also made a donation of £119.00 to Shard End Community club who are doing a wonderful work in helping the community and bringing the elders together and engaging them with games and providing lunch.

One in four people will be affected by dementia in their lifetimes, which is why it’s important to work with individuals and their families to try and make life much easier for those who have it. A recent report made recommendations to the government about the need to continue to raise awareness of dementia, and the work that can be done to make our communities more dementia friendly. With the specialist services we provide at Bluebird Care we are determined to do just that with this free public event as part of national Dementia Awareness Week.
