Bluebird Care Andover, Stockbridge & Romsey are supporting International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) which is celebrated on 3 December each year.

International Day of People with Disability is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of people with disability.

Each year the UN announces a new and different theme. The theme for 2015 is:
“Inclusion matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities”

This year there are also three sub-themes:
  • Making cities inclusive and accessible for all
  • Improving disability data and statistics
  • Including persons with invisible disabilities in society and development.
Celebrating International Day of People with Disability is a collaborative, joint effort between schools, organisations, community groups, local businesses and individuals to help break down disability barriers and to celebrate abilities.

Commenting, Norman Murphy, Owner & Managing Director of Bluebird Care said;

We here at Bluebird Care are supporting International Day of People with Disability, and helping to raise awareness of the campaign. We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of people with disability in our community, and also recognise all of the significant contributions they provide to our locality, which would be sorely missed. We think it is important to encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.”
