Silver Sunday is held each year on the first Sunday of October in aid of the Sir Simon Milton Foundation. The aim of Silver Sunday is to celebrate older people and their contribution to communities.

Through an array of free activities Silver Sunday offers people over the age of 65 a chance to keep active, to try new things, meet their neighbours and, ultimately and most importantly to help overcome loneliness.

Silver Sunday was launched in 2012 by The Sir Simon Milton Foundation and Councillor Christabel Flight, after a report was published showing that more than a third of people over 75 said they were lonely. The goal of Silver Sunday was to celebrate older residents and to help them get out and about and socialise.

Silver Sunday 2015 falls on Sunday 4th October and is set to be even bigger and better than previous years with events happening right across the UK. There will be a wide variety of activities taking place with everything from concerts to museum tours, cycle rides to chocolate tastings, ensuring there will be something to suit all tastes.

To join in this year you can see the list of upcoming events on the Silver Sunday website. If you see something that you would be interested in taking part in, use the contact information supplied to sign up.
