Bluebird Care is happy to be supporting Young Carers Awareness Day on 28^th January 2016.

Young Carers Awareness Day is a national day of recognition for the 700,000 young carers in the UK who work around the clock providing care and support to family and friends.

Young carers are children and young people under the age of 18 who provide unpaid care to a family member who is physically or mentally ill, disabled or who struggles with addiction.

Behind the campaign are Carers Trust, who have conducted fantastic new research and have put together a creative social media campaign in the lead up to 28^th January.

The aim of Young Carers Awareness Day to raise awareness of the thousands of carers who are often unidentified, and who miss out on vital services and support they are entitled to. The goal of the campaign is to communicate who young carers are, what they do and what they have missed out on in their childhoods as a result of their caring role.

Increasing the general awareness and understanding of young carers means that children and young people with caring responsibilities should then be more easily identified and helped, along with their families, and therefore be able to access the right support.
