What we do

There is always room for a quality, professional domiciliary care agency in South Bucks & Slough and the surrounding areas, offering the required high standard of personal care. Our aims are to:

·           Assist those in need of care to live as comfortably and as securely as possible

·           actively encourage the independence of all customers

·           provide the highest standards of care at all times

·           maintain a highly competitive and sensible fees structure

We have an active programme of training for carers around end of life care, dementia, muscular dystrophy, learning difficulties and spinal cord injury. In each of these specialist areas we have a subject matter expert (SME) so that we have a clear process in place for knowledge transfer and support. As an example our SME for end of life care (which typically are double handed calls) makes herself available to our team of trained palliative carers and is the lead carer on a large percentage of the visits.

August 2011   Golf Marathon in aid of local Home Care Charity

Three keen golfing colleagues at care-at-home provider Bluebird Care in Taplow have raised over £1000 in aid of Carers Bucks in a charity golf challenge held at the beginning of the month.

To mark his 54th birthday, Ian Inglis, a director of Bluebird Care, hit upon the idea of playing 3 rounds of golf, a total of 54 holes, in one day, and to do so in aid of Carers Bucks, an independent charity which supports unpaid, family carers in the Bucks region. Bluebird Care work with Carers Bucks extensively to provide care in the community and Ian considered this a great opportunity to raise money which helps them to continue with the great work they do in the region, whilst having some fun on the golf course.

Three local golf courses graciously offered to support the fund raising by offering complimentary tee times, and so the day began very early at Denham GC for Round 1, moved to Stoke Park for the middle 18 holes and then to Huntswood GC to complete the full 54 holes which was achieved just as darkness fell.

Ian invited family members of people they provide care for to play with them at each course and Jean Gordon, who joined the group for the 18 holes at Stoke Park, said ‘Bluebird Care & Carers Bucks have provided home care services for my husband John for some time now, and provide a vital support system to allow independent living at home. I had a great day out, and I am so grateful to Bluebird Care for inviting me to take part.’   Jo Woolf, Fundraising & Development Manager for Carers Bucks, was delighted with the outcome commenting ‘In a time of increased pressure on budgets and a growing demand for our services, the donations allow us to deliver almost 70 precious hours of respite care, making a real difference to the lives of the people that Carers Bucks help on a daily basis throughout the region.’

Ian Inglis added ‘It was a fun day, and a bit of a struggle towards the end, but we were able to mark my 54th birthday in an unforgettable manner, and to raise money for a great cause along the way. What can be more rewarding than that?’

December 2010   Christmas comes early thanks to Bluebird Care

Bluebird Care (South Bucks and Slough) brought some early Christmas cheer to local older people by throwing a Christmas Party with help from Lent Rise Primary School and Grovefield House Hotel. The Taplow company organised the party on Thursday December 9 for 30 customers and their families at the newly-refurbished Burnham hotel, which waived its usual charges to ensure the partygoers had a Christmas to remember. The schoolchildren provided plenty of festive cheer by singing traditional Christmas carols.

Bluebird Care organised the event to ensure that older people joined forces with the community and celebrated the spirit of Christmas with each other. The hotel provided afternoon tea and help with the party, as well as goody bags for all the partygoers and Bluebird Care customers who were unable to attend but had wanted to do so. The schoolchildren were also each given a gift. Bluebird Care Director Anne Inglis said, 'At this time of year, it is especially important that we go that extra mile to provide care services that really have a positive impact on our customers’ lives, enabling them to get out into the community for a few hours and enter into the festive spirit. Many of the people involved in making the party such a success gave their time freely and we are extremely grateful to everyone involved for making the day so special for so many of our customers.  Huge thanks go to The Grovefield House Hotel, Lent Rise Primary School and Lent Rise taxis for their terrific efforts on the day - we couldn’t have done it without such great support.”

November - 2010   Care worker wins award for dedication to customers

A Bluebird care worker, Zara Barton, won the Bluebird Care (South Bucks & Slough) Carer of the Month Award after being nominated by one of her customers.

Ian Inglis, who owns the Bluebird Care office in Bath Road, Taplow, said, 'Zara has been a great carer for us from the start and is a very worthy recipient of the award.  She is responsible, caring and puts her customers’ welfare at the heart of everything she does. She has had a positive impact on her customers’ daily lives, which is fantastic and is representative of the level of care we endeavour to provide.'

July 2010 - Bluebird Care office is scooting ahead

Care-at-home provider Bluebird Care in Taplow is helping people get back on the road to full employment by investing in environmentally-friendly scooters. During recruitment, they became conscious that some first-class job applicants were being ruled out, automatically, because they were without personal transport.

Director, Anne Inglis said, 'We became increasingly aware that some applicants were unemployed through no fault of their own, and their job prospects were hampered by not having transport. We’ve worked with the local JobCentre, and have now invested in two scooters, so lack of transport is not an automatic ban to being a Bluebird Care worker. The scooters have the further benefit of being environmentally friendly and a cost-effective and quick way to reach our customers!'

One staff member to benefit from the scooters is Diane Weston, who lives in Slough. She joined Bluebird Care in April and is proving very popular with customers, thanks to her outgoing, enthusiastic and hard-working nature.

Diane said, 'I am so grateful to Bluebird Care for providing me with a scooter allowing me to get back into work, and do a job that I love. The provision of care to people in their own homes is so rewarding, and having the scooter means that I can be even more certain of being on time for visits as I am less affected by the traffic problems that car drivers face on the roads. What's more, scooters have the added benefit of being environmentally friendly, so I am doing my bit to control carbon emissions in the area too!'
