Funding your care

Direct Payments are available as an option to pay for your care.  Below is some information about Direct Payments and how to apply in Hertfordshire.

How Do Direct Payments Work

Direct Payments - Great Flexibility and Control

A direct payment is:

  • Money for you to arrange your own support.
  • Greater flexibility, choice and control over the support you receive and how you receive it.
  • A way that you can use a personal budget to meet your needs.

Find out how direct payments work.

A direct payment is not

  • A direct payment is not a benefit and is different from the Department of Work and Pensions 'Direct Payments'
  • It is not a form of income and should not be regarded as such.

You can have a direct payment if:

  • You are eligible to receive a personal budget.
  • You are willing and able to manage how the money is spent or know someone who can manage the money on your behalf.

Customer Testimonials

We have arranged Bluebird Care (East Herts) for double up calls, 3 times a day, 7 days a week. I am very happy & pleased with the quality of the services and would definitely recommend."

Mr C

Just had to write and thank you so much for all the time and effort you have spent on me this week. Coming out for regular reviews and to set up things while my daughter and son in law are away in Canada is a great help."

Mrs S F

Just to formalise the feedback I gave you following your carers introductory visit last Thursday.  It was so lovely to meet your supervisor and two care workers.  Everyone was so kind and reassuring and spent time with my Dad to make him feel comfortable.

It’s all very new and it has been a difficult decision to choose the right care agency.  I am feeling very reassured and confident about home care and it’s been a big relief to know that help is at hand."

August 2013
