Deserie Atkins

Operations Manager

I am very proud to be the operations manager of Bluebird Care Torbay, Plymouth and South Hams. I have been in post for almost three years and since that time I have supported the team to go from strength to strength. In 2019 we were awarded outstanding by the Care Quality Commission which was the best accolade that we could receive as a marker of both our success, and the quality of the support we provide to our customers.

I have over 30 years’ experience of working in the health and social care field and I remain registered with the health care professional council as a Social Worker. I have worked in social service departments and the NHS for a large part of my career.

I relocated to Torbay 15 years ago from Staffordshire with my family and I am very proud to say that I live in the South West.

Nicola Gardner

Acting Registered Manager

I joined the Bluebird team in July 2017, as a Care Assistant which I loved. I then progressed to Field Supervisor, and became Recruitment Manager in August 2019.

I am responsible for the recruitment and retention of our care staff and ensuring they are supported and able to deliver our high-quality service. I ensure that all our new employees are nurtured throughout their 12 week probation period. I also work closely with the coordinator to meet staffing requirements and address the needs of the business.

I am a people person, always willing to help when and where I can and always offer you a warm smile, a cuppa and a chat. I enjoy building the connection with staff and offer support to colleagues and all staff alike. HAPPY STAFF = HAPPY & SAFE CUSTOMERS.

Louise Carter

Care Manager (Brixham, Totnes and Paignton)

As Locality Manager, Louise is responsible for customer support. She develops a tailor-made care package they feel will provide them with the most effective, highest quality of care. Each day she communicates with customers, family members and other professionals, ensuring everyone involved in the care package is in the loop and happy.

Louise covers Brixham, Paignton and Totnes and she is enjoying the challenge of meeting lots of new people and developing her relationships with new and exsiting customers.

Louise came to work for Bluebird in November 2018 after leaving her position as Discharge Co-Ordinator/Bed Manager with the National Health, where she worked for almost 20 years.  Her job with the NHS entailed arranging the safe discharge home or the transfer to onward care of patients that needed additional support and care temporary or permanent. She describes this experience was enlightening.
